How to Shop for Large Redecoration’s at Plummers Furniture
I know, I know, choosing a furniture store doesn’t seem like such a huge deal. However, wait until you need to furnish an entire house and you will see just how daunting of a task it really is. When having to redecorate, or refurnish a home, many furniture stores will give heavy discounts in you furnish all rooms with furniture from there store. This is where big savings comes into play. I recently got this special treatment at Plummers Furniture and it was a great experience. Whether you need to just pick out a new couch for one room, or you need to redecorate an entire home it’s important to follow these steps.
1.) MEASURE! Take out the tape measure and use it! There’s nothing worse than having to struggle to decide between two pieces of furniture in the store, for hours wondering which one is right for your new living room. Finally, you decide. You get it delivered, and guess what. It’s to BIG! LOL. Trust me it happens, turns out the other one you were looking at would fit perfectly and now, you’re out of luck.
2.) DECIDE ON COLOR/STYLE BEFORE. Now I know this seems a little crazy, but hear me out. I’m not saying you should pick one color and no matter what stick with that. But you need to have an idea of what color or colors you are interested before you go out and become overwhelmed by the selections. It’s also important to decide on major factors before you go shopping. For example, leather vs. fabric sofas, or glass vs. wooden coffee tables. When you go out to all the stores you will be shocked by how many options are out there and each one will look better than the next. This is why it’s important to rule out whatever you can before you go to make your experience a little more enjoyable.
3.) PLOT YOUR JOURNEY. Remember, you don’t have to pick out everything on the first day. Take it one room at a time and it will help you along the way. I like to plot out exactly what days and what stops ill make for each different room. For example, one day I might shop for all the bathrooms in a house and hit different stores then if I was shopping for children’s bedrooms. Being organized really helps though out this entire process. It allows you to stay focused and keep your wits about you. It’s very easy to get caught up looking for items for a house decorations with a snatch and grab style, but that often leads to an unorganized theme throughout the house.
4.) BUDGET. At last, the always important budget. The absolute best way to determine whether a piece of furniture is the right one for you is by having and sticking to a strict budget. Picture yourself trying to choose between two beautiful couches. Both of them would look perfect in your newly remolded living room. Both have their reasons why you should take them home, except one of them is just $200 bucks over your budget for couches. What do you do? Stick to your budget! This scenario will happen over and over again and sticking to your budget will not only save you money, but you’ll feel better afterward as well.
These are the steps I always take to make sure the outcome looks as good as it does in the magazines. A well decorated home can add value, create enjoyable atmosphere and much much more. When facing a daunting task like redecorating a your entire home, always break the work up into smaller more manageable tasks. This way, you can enjoy your remodeling without going crazy.
